I don't think a lot of people understand the absolute genius of this album. In music it is important to learn how to separate the art from the artist. As with Kanye West he is a very controversial person but his older music is unmatched to anything I've ever listened too. Despite him being a lot of things I would say don't let his actions prevent you from listening to his music. Give College Dropout a try

this album confuses the shit about of me. i truly don’t know if i think this is a work of absolute genius and one of the best albums ever, or if i’m just bugging and it’s complete shit. like people could reach either conclusion and i’d say fair play. but i think i probably love it? worth your time one way or another. and the art is absolutely wild

If you’ve never listened to Aesop Rock, it’ll most likely sound like harsh noise to you the first few listens, but boy does his music reward you the more you listen. This isn’t background music, listening is WORK- rewarding work. Once your ear gets used to it you’re in for a treat. “Black Snow” is my current favorite on this album. I recommend patiently making your way through all his work if you’re a rap/poetry/word fan… you will get stuck on specific songs for a while since there is SO much being said in every.single.word. Best lyricist of our generation and I don’t think anyone disputes that. And an added bonus- his vast vocabulary will make you smarter as you listen🤓

I don’t know what it is about leaks and snippets that make em more compelling; maybe it’s that, even with artists on the biggest scale, there’s a long process of revision and re-recording that happens. And it’s creatively invigorating to remind myself of that. I’m talking about Ye, mostly (but could be talking about Carti, Uzi). The Jesus is King-era alternate tape Yahndi that leaked, from when it was still called Yahndi, I’ll still bump that. But more recently, this alternate Donda-era tracklist someone put together, “God’s Country.” It’s this weird, slightly illicit collaboration that happens between fan, artist, and listener. It keeps some of the tracks and sketches Ye made, then scrapped, alive. I like that.

Ive wasted so much of my life glued to my phone and although it hasn't been detrimental to my health or social life this addiction is holding me back from doing many things. It's hard to try and stray away from social media because most of the time, when i'm not on my phone I feel like i'm missing out on what's going. The feeling of needing to know trends, memes, and drama becomes draining to my mind. There are so many things which are way more productive and life enriching that I want to do but the ongoing feeling of needing to scroll one more time prevents me from doing these things. I'm aware that this all sounds like a lame excuse but for many this is a big problem. I feel somewhat disgusted with how lazy ive become, and Ive always felt like I never had time to do certain things, but as I look back it's simply because of that damn phone. It's time for me to stop caring about all the stupid shit I scroll past every single day and make a change. Definitely deleting TikTok and only keeping instagram for my friends. So this year and then on, I hope to read more, learn more, write more, and simply enjoy the world, with the hope to reconnect with myself and truly understand who I am as a person. I wish you all the same.
