I think in general it’s extremely important that everyone has a hobby, or at least something fun to do outside of work. Artists I’m talking to you too, because if your job is music or visual art, I think you should have something totally unrelated to that to do in your free time. For example, I've been working on a painting for my brother’s boss in my free time, and I’ve also been knitting a scarf! It doesn’t have to be anything crazy and definitely not profitable, but it really helps with separating work time from free time.

hobbies are so important i hate that some tend to be expensive but truly having at least one is just so freeing ❤️‍🩹

For painting, pottery, cooking, etc. it doesn’t feel like work and taking up a hobby will be relaxing time spent before jumping into the next job

Honestly just find some kind of activity where you can regularly feel accomplished. For me that's climbing bc you get to achieve sth each session (new routes! new grades!) or drawing as I 'achieve' sth each time I finish a drawing. Alongside that, make sure you shower and clean your spaces regularly + dressing up every now and again! Just making sure you keep feeling and treating urself as a real human

When I was younger I used to be able to spend HOURS playing random internet games, like I would just get lost in them and not think about anything else outside of the game. That’s probably not the best way to spend your time when you’re a kid, but as an adult I’ve realized it’s kind of a way to meditate. It’s an opportunity to be present and take a break from thinking about anything, and it’s so easy to get lost in it.

Being able to grow your own food for free is just the craziest concept. I also have some doomsday prepper DNA in me and gardening satisfies that need for self-sufficiency lmao. My girlfriend’s mom told me recently that plants have survival instincts too, so when you grow your own fruits and vegetables, they try to adapt to what you like so you’re less likely to get rid of them. So also that’s why food you grow yourself tastes so much better.
