public art in particular is suuuper interesting, also art censorship, history of religious art, history of art movements or specific art styles (anything from impressionism to gran fury). or you could dive into specific artists (or even specific art pieces!). i think whatā€™s really cool about it is that art history can be about people, politics, religion, culture as well as the medium itself and the evolution of techniques and styles art restoration might be an interesting topic to learn about too (but personally i just like watching these videos lol)

(not an art history student) i took a course on public art in college and it was so interesting!! i used to not have a deeper interest in sculptures (vs paintings ie) and learning about public art made me really fascinated by it!! thereā€™s a whole body of theory around it, lots of history and controversies, and research around its impacts. most cities and even smaller towns have public art, whether you live in one or visit somewhere with public art i recommend a quick google to learn more!

Most goated genre of humanities. I took AP Art History in high school and it changed my life; it's just allows you to look at history through the lens of objects that people both owned and used to emotionally process the time they were living in. It's world history, sociology, psychology and visual criticism wrapped up into one. The amount I learned about the inherent nature of humans / humanity in that class is second only to my own life experience.

I have a great memory for facts and I love art museums! I dabbled in art history at uni but wouldā€™ve loved to have given it a full go. I think skill sets are similar across industries, especially if you work in the social good/arts and culture sectors, so who knows? I might still have a chance!

being traditionally cool is really quite boring and iterative, and itā€™s actually very cool and sexy to geek out about something you like or share bits of knowledge on a topic youā€™re passionate about

i had it for a little over a year until i was like wow this is actually terrible! i genuinely think it has negatively impacted society by ruining peopleā€™s attention spans, having a horrific algorithm, and most of all by the most mind-numbing or outright harmful trends - fake words that people now use IRL (ā€œunaliveā€), trad wife tiktok, shein hauls, body-focused fitness vids that encourage fatphobia and unhealthy habits, shallow political/feminist theory and queer discourse, ā€œalpha maleā€ podcaster tiktok, encouraging overconsumption in general, trends ruining local spots or niche thingsā€¦ the list goes on
