by david ritz. Devastated me. Some parts were so honest and revealing that I had to step away from it for a couple days, like I had lifted the veil off something not meant for me. A perspective into the responsibility of the non-artist and what can happen when we put them on a pedestal, unknowingly stripping them of their humanity + a reminder of how honest his music was.

My friend Richard Turley turned me onto this book in April or so. I’ve been reading it in correlation to whatever the day is. I’m grounded enough in reality to know that next to This Legend, I’m a drop in the bucket. BUT— I am delusional enough to think that in diligently reading his diary, I am able to channel the spirit and the honor with which he lives and creates. My other main takeaways have been that he loves porn and big tits. (Nice.)

Maybe one of the best bands ever love when bands say nothing but everything at the same time. The documentary on David is so heartbreaking. wish this man knew how much he meant to people before he died:(. Beautiful music however

perhaps it’s overdone to say someone lived “unapologetically” but he really did. This is my favorite autobiography of one of my favorite stars. He was glamorous, extremely smart, funny and talented—Both as a musician and as a reality star during his Big Brother years in the early 00s. The whole book is extremely entertaining and the way he goes in on industry censorship—most glaringly surrounding his gender expression—as well as the blurriness of boundaries in gay mentorship as a young person in the 70s is really compelling. I really connect to it every time I’ve read it (a few times.) Gwen Stefani has been looking a lot like 90s Pete lately and it makes me smile.

especially the track “what a wonderful thing love is”. religion has never been a part of my life but listening to this album feels something like church to me.
