i bought it when i lived in canada, just a tiny vile of it, called commodity: gold. it was juniper berries, vanilla, amber, sandal wood and musk. i wore it as i explored the rocky mountains, made friends in the snow, experiencing a sense of freedom iā€™d never felt before. i loved it so much and little did i know it would all be gone when i landed back in australia. slowly leaking into a random makeup bag during the 15 hour flight. i havenā€™t bought it since, i donā€™t know why. i think iā€™m scared that if i smell it again i will miss that time in my life, where i was far away from everything in my life, surrounded by canadian snow.

There have been a handful of occasions where Iā€™ve smelled the now-discontinued shampoo my momā€™s late best gay friend Jackie used (who called me his little bitch when I was growing up and taught me everything I know about style, elegance, and attitude) and it made me cry. The smells of lumber, soil, and wood varnish remind me of the countless hours spent in my childhood with my dad in the greenhouse, the back patio workshop and at various supply warehouses. The smell of creosote in the desert rainā€”sorely missed and I want to buy a candle or something that replicates this because itā€™s my favorite scent in the world. Lā€™Eau dā€™Issey Pour Homme on a shirt-collar takes me back to the warmth and security of first love and reminds me of what it feels like to be home. Iā€™ve posted that I wear Fracas every time I want to remember a happy significant day so thatā€™s probably my most strongly nostalgic scent. The smell of old books and cigarettes! When I come into my apartment after stepping out for just a moment after making espresso and the lingering smell makes me feel like Iā€™m in a cafe! The smell of a REAL Christmas tree! Yesterday at the farmerā€˜s market I smelled a butterfly bush plant for sale and childhood memories came flooding back. Juicy Couture by Juicy Couture was my grandmother's signature scent because she liked the Schnauzers on the bottle so Tuberose always reminds me of her + the smell of face powder. I could go on foreverā€¦

i went into jo malone to inquire about this perfume i have been a bit obsessed with (ginger cookie). a girl my age working informed me that it was a limited edition run and they no longer carried it. i was devastated but nevertheless, ended up in conversation with her about how much i liked her shoes and her, my outfit. ā€œhold on a second,ā€ she went into the back and made me a sample of a leftover stock bottle. i use my little bottle sparingly and think of the kindness often šŸ«š

as a perfume / scent gworl what a dream question ~~~ my boyfriends old house: I canā€™t really pin down the smell but it was so specific and lovely and if I smell it again I am THERE!!! ~~~ pub floor lmao; many years of bartending means somehow I have quite a nostalgic association with the smell of beer . Kinda wheaty ~~~ the lush perfume SUPERWORLD UNKNOWN: discontinued. Rip. So sweet, would never wear it now, but was supposed to smell like candy floss at a funfair . Maybe in space ??
