That thing you walk by every day and think, ”Ugh, I need to take care of that.” And then you don’t take care of it, and then you walk by it again and think, “Ugh, why didn’t I deal with that! I suck.” And then you’re depressed. (Or is it just me?) Well, next time say, “I’m going to do this right now.” And then, don’t just move it somewhere closer to where it needs to go. If it needs to be in a box in the closet, take the box down and it the thing inside. Don’t put it on the shelf next to the box. Do it right. I, for one, feel so much better about myself when things are taken care of.

That thing you’ve been putting off? Do it. Do it now. You will feel such a profound relief when it’s done. Got caught up on my math homework and now I feel like a person for the first time in months

If there is something you are dreading/scared to do, just throw yourself into it and do it, don’t worry about doing it right necessarily. Make it fear you with how directly you’re attacking it, flip the script. Thanks Nike. Prioritize action to inaction. Semi related too, if there’s something you want to put off that takes less then 5 minutes, always do it then.

If you think of something you know needs to get done, immediately go do it or write it down in your to-do list. This has made my life so much better. Don’t avoid hard conversations either. It’s easier to just do it than it is to dwell.
