I'm reading like eight books right now, all at a startlingly slow pace. BUT! What makes this more manageable is to have variety in genre and difficulty. This heightens the chance that one of the books in your arsenal will be appealing at any given moment. This is my easy one right now. Large text, memoir, silly, not trying too hard to be anything. The story of a perfectly ordinary girl growing up in Sunnyvale in the 60s and 70s who still managed to be quirked up.

i usually find myself in reading ruts when i’m taking classes and being assigned books or when i’m trying to keep up with new releases and the “smart” books that are usually dense and long. i can usually get myself out of this rut by picking out a book that looks fun to me, like a book set on a beach or something I loved in middle school. I’m reading From The Mixed Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler right now and it’s just FUN!!! I also am very much not someone who feels like they have to finish a book. Life is too short. I think that helps!

An effective way to read more because you can choose what you’re in the mood for. My current mix: environmental essays, whimsical alien fiction, interior design

Yeah I have my favorites that I gravitate more towards, but jumping around between fiction & nonfiction & all the sub-genres therein keeps things ✨fun✨

You should Literally never regret getting a truth off your chest. The people around you deserve to know and you will feel less alone when you introduce them to something you’ve kept close. Like here’s something I’ve been ruminating on, here’s my impression, here’s my little friend… Honesty is good

My mom is not a hardened career woman. When I was growing up it was difficult for me to understand how hard she worked precisely because there was no work/life balance for her. She never turned off. I will always remember her as I saw her on weekday mornings in elementary school: Glasses, hair up, Atkins bar, nightie that read “Don’t wake the bear”. I don’t think she was ever more beautiful than she is in her work uniform.

I love nothing more than to put on a fragrance to help me get cozy and transform into my nighttime princess self (as opposed to my sundowning alter). I was using the yellow baby cologne for a while. lesiboo knew this so she gifted me a baby powder perfume which I love even more! It conditions you to shift into Sleep Mode and makes you feel swaddled (by yourself).
