Why is this such a lost art? Bring together those friends that would never have met other wise. Make the people you love, love each other. I recently had a small birthday wine n dine with my friends and anticipated awkwardness between my different groups of friends, but it was the complete opposite. God I love my friends and love making a space for them to mingle and laugh in eeeee. I think in a time where my friends and I are transitioning to adulthood and focusing on careers, this brings something to look forward to and a way to create a world outside of work and study.

Itā€™s a lost art, I love that youā€™re still doing it and trying to keep a form of third space alive. Friendship is so important, we all deserve to laugh with and love other people.

being an adult can get real busy, and I donā€™t have as much time to see my friends anymore. our solution for this has become a regular debrief night every 1-2 months. hereā€™s the structure: - cook or order a meal together - come in the comfiest clothes - late at night is ideal - prepare throughout the week by building a PowerPoint with sections for each friend detailing important updates/occurrences in their lives (I like to present mine as little stories with pics for reference) - appendix at the end of the ppt of new friends, enemies, and everyoneā€™s ā€œOOOā€ dates so we can make plans accordingly these nights have come to be some of the best memories for us, and is now something everyone in our circles knows about - anytime something happens, someone asks us ā€œwill this/I be in the debrief now?ā€ itā€™s structured fun and a great way to stay connected with my people. highly recommend if you have the time! It can be scary to bring together friends from different groups or parts of your life, but once in awhile I go for it anyways and itā€™s always so rewarding. They usually get along great and sometimes even become great friends. If they donā€™t get along, then itā€™s only an hour or two of awkward and you can gossip about it later.
