When I was a little kid, this book went almost everywhere with me. I would spend countless hours admiring each & every page of vibrantly painted cats, which is why most of the pages are barely intact anymore. Eventually, I lost the book along with my memory of it. Last year when perusing my old childhood books I found it & I guess my admiration for it never really left. If you like cats, art, optical illusions, or simply enjoy color then I think you might find this book fun to flip through!

I've been really obsessed with this book I've been reading called The Interpretation of Cats and Their Owners. I remember taking a selfie with it and seeing it as a joke, and then it was the only book I had on holiday, and I ended up reading it. Like, I’m not even joking. It’s really helpful if you’re a cat owner, and it has loads of stories. The author talks about a load of cats she's encountered in her life, and I think it's really sweet. Loads of it made me cry, which was quite unexpected! It makes you love your cat like ten times more, if anything. It talks about why they do certain things – it just makes me look at my cats and thing ‘whoa, I have really amazing cats.’

This picture book is almost 100 years old, but it doesn’t feel dated. Well, I mean, it feels like an old fable. But it’s a timeless fable. A lovely little story about the redemptive power of being loved and cared for, even if you don’t feel like the prettiest cat/person.

I love being an outfit repeater. I love when my clothes start to feel roomy & slouchy. I love when I notice the fabric color fading. I love when my jeans fray & the denim starts to break open on the knees. I love it when my clothes show that i’ve lived.

I found her at a family gathering about 7-8 years ago. The previous lady who was taking care of her & a colony of feral cats moved away, leaving her without a consistent food source. She hung around me the whole day, soaking up the sun from a lawn chair while occasionally stealing some of my mac & cheese. That day I ended up taking her home, now she’s my whole world. Since then, i’ve started studying all things cat (especially feline behavior), working at animal shelters, occasionally fostering, & volunteering at other animal shelters + different pet retention services. She’s taught me so much & has given me the motivation to be better everyday. I don’t know what i’d do or be without her.
