With your interest in whimsy and YA fiction I would highly recommend Shepherd King Duology by Rachel Gillig. I flew through these books they were so engaging and had a really interesting magic system and a plot that doesnāt follow the standard āchosen oneā you see in a lot of fantasy.
If we were villains:
itās one of my new favs by ML Rios! Itās about a group of Shakespeare scholars that go to school in this prestigious university in BFE. They are doing a production of a play when someone turns up dead with no suspect. Itās super thrilling and an amazing use of shakespeareās text to tie the story together. 100% recommend if ur into horror/murder mystery!
Crowns of Nyaxia:
This is a series by carissa broadbent that (currently) spans 2 main books as well as a couple spinoff books. The two main books are some of my faves in the fantasy genre. itās hunger games with vampires! thereās amazing fight scenes, gore, poetry, and a little smut if youāre into that. I read both of these books this summer and this is the first time that iāve read a spinoff in a series bc i loved the characters that much.
enjoy expanding your horizons!!!!!
by Philip Pullman. The Golden Compass, The Subtle Knife, and The Amber Spyglass. Very rich and engaging fantasy stuff! Cool metaphysics, strange fauna and flora, and some wild adventures!
Especially YA. So much fun and blood and loyalties and traitors. SO MUCH STAKES. I recommend the And I Darken series. I read the first two books in high school and am finally reading the last book now in my twenties I donāt want to cause I donāt want to part ways but I have to I have to know how this epic ends.
this is one of this annoying things that actually makes a difference and makes your mom say I told you so. there's something about a made bed that makes me feel like my life is just that little bit more together and getting into a made bed at night is one of my top 10 favorite mundane experiences.
