I like how fun this painting looks, thanks for showing this because looking into it I’m happy to see that Croegaert has done more of these types of paintings - he’s entirely new to me!
sniffle the cardinals‘ expressions are so animated. the painting feels so vibrant but so real at the same time.
minette You’ve explained it perfectly! I’m looking through more of his works and that description prevails. I love seeing the colourful cardinals’ faces when they’re blowing on tea, looking quizzically at their painting, staring deeply at a lemon or smiling at their cats (I love all of the cat inclusions!). Then the furniture around is understatedly colourful, with the colours also helped by the fun theme of the paintings being based around bright red cardinals.
What a fun, unique artist to find :) thanks for sharing
