if money were no object i would immediately hole up in an upscale hotel that allows residency or a weird airbnb and voraciously take in art and frantically create, intermittently leaving to wander aimlessly until i have mapped out haunts for myself. repeat for however long i feel, at times solo, at other times surrounded by friends and confidants

like going to sweden or iceland on a solo trip in the dead of winter where the sun rises late and sets early, and you’re jet lagged and you have no idea what time it is, you just sleep when you sleep and wake up when you wake up and go to a coffee shop and have a little piece of cake and put on all the clothes you can because it’s snowing and take your book with you everywhere across the city as you wander and when coffee shops aren’t open you make tea and watch movies in bed and write in your journal and you’re like a liquid floating through time and space, completely untethered to anything and anyway i’ve never beaten that high

money is tight this month, so i‘ll be making no further plans. i am telling myself that i will spend as little as possible. i will use my time to practice the solo creative tasks that gnaw away at my brain all day anyway, to journal and reflect, and to struggle to establish something of a routine again, until i can emerge feeling that i have a handle on myself (for now). sometimes it’s fun to be restrictive, reclusive. especially in the winter. during stretches like these, i like to think of myself as a hermit or an ascetic monk.
