my newest favorite book is Rebecca by Daphne de Maurier but it’s even better because the 1940 Alfred Hitchcock film adaptation is free on YouTube. It feels very Lana del Rey and cool.

I recommend imagining Joan Fontaine’s sister Olivia de Havilland as the eponymous Rebecca because she looks the part and because of their real-life rivalry. Drama *enhanced*

Incredibly stylish movie. Gorgeous b&w, the score, the glamor, the fantasy, the ending. I watch it whenever I want to feel like the lady of the manor. Gothic country house noir comfort movie.

My favorite Hitchcock — dark comedy, 1955 Have watched it so many times Shirley MacLaine's first movie. Thanks younginvert for the rec that got me thinking of it. Edmund Gwenn is an absolute delight.

Rope (1948)
Maybe not Hitchcock’s most well-known but became an instant favorite for me. Great characters, great dialogue, great pacing, and a very good looking apartment. The script is canonically queer, but edited down to not make it known in 1948. But you can still tell, which I think is cool.

MILWAUKEE is super cool
I lived in MKE it’s super chill there! very good coffee shops and live music scene is cool. however, I’m from Minneapolis and I loved it while I was there. The art, music, nature, people, and cost of living is solid.
