I found them under a shed in a junk yard. I used to regularly go to the junk yard to feed the colony of cats that live there, unfortunately I don't leave near there anymore, but I do have my friend feed them now. I was hesitant about taking them at first because I knew there mom was near by and the place I lived didn't allow pets, but they were sick and some of them had so much crust on there face they couldn't open their eyes. I took them to the vet and for the next week I feed them with syringes every 3 to 4 hours. it was hell and I never slept but I loved them more than anything and I miss them alot. If you are wondering what happened to them they went with a foster through a rescue, now they have all been adopted. I loved helping them, my friends loved them too. I miss them everyday, I hope to foster more cats. There names are damon albarn, bjork, thom york and gerard way

I have (and have had) many pets since I was a wee girl- newts, bunnies, terriers, gerbils, frogs, iguanas, fish, hedgehogs, and I’ve loved each of them with all I’ve got. But over the last few years, I’ve found my truest passion is raising kittens (don’t tell my dogs, who seem 100% sure the cats are just disruptive indignities I must suffer to get back to them.) Kittens are nature’s anti-depressant, the best reality show you’re not watching and a totally inspiring example of the mindfuck that is evolution. I mean, these little creeps have been designed by a Higher Power to look adorably lost, impossibly needy… and then BAM they’re opening all your doors and eating all your salad and looking down at you from the bookshelf like you’re the help in a Downton Abbey sequel. Plus, on a soppy note, a teensy rescue kitten is the example of tenacity we all need- they don’t give up as they go from fetal bird confusion to diabolical emperor. Any opportunity to foster, raise and/or unleash kittens on their next willing fin-dom arrangement is one of my higher callings. At the moment, two young ‘ens are staring at me from a cactus shaped condo in the corner of our bedroom. Another eight year old adoptee/Garfield doppelganger is on a reduced calorie diet upstairs so that he can maintain his heart health and travel in something smaller than the laundry hamper. Look at us! We’re a chic literary salon but I’m the only one who can read (I think. I have one cat who can probably read, she just does it at night when I’m not looking.)

I found her at a family gathering about 7-8 years ago. The previous lady who was taking care of her & a colony of feral cats moved away, leaving her without a consistent food source. She hung around me the whole day, soaking up the sun from a lawn chair while occasionally stealing some of my mac & cheese. That day I ended up taking her home, now she’s my whole world. Since then, i’ve started studying all things cat (especially feline behavior), working at animal shelters, occasionally fostering, & volunteering at other animal shelters + different pet retention services. She’s taught me so much & has given me the motivation to be better everyday. I don’t know what i’d do or be without her.

My roommates & I have been feeding & giving water to these two street cats in our neighborhood. They spend all their time in our backyard now. This one is very sweet & friendly. The other one’s more skittish. A third one comes by sometimes. He’s all white & kind of scary looking. I call him Il Diavolo Blanco. The one in the picture I call Kiko.
