I have a hard time getting out of bed in the morning, so I like to watch these very soothing videos of people across the globe waking up at like 5 a.m. to make homemade bread and soup and listen to the birds. No dialogue, no influencer-voice, just thoughtful little captions. Choki is the OG.

As someone who works in food media, I watch a lot of cooking videos. As much as I love instructional videos with charming hosts, that's not what I watch to chill my brain out. Instead, and because I am obsessed with food, I watch quiet cooking videos on YouTube that one might even call cooking ASMR. They generally show someone cooking a dish with little to no background music or narration; instead, you see beautiful food and hear pleasant sizzle sounds or the gentle scraping of a wooden spoon. My favorite channels are 꿀키honeykki and yedy101, whose delightfully cross-eyed cat usually makes an appearance in the background.

These are just some youtube channels that keeps me satisfied: 1. Bread Story- a channel that documents Japanese bakery owners' baking process to selling of their high quality products. There's something breadmaking that keeps me sane. 2. LayBack-Korean channel that curates music in various moods and concepts. The creator also use their own cinematic video clips while the songs are playing 3. Fuku Memo-just two sisters traveling together and sometimes i wish i can be their sister too.

This YouTube channel is very cozy. Country Life Vlog is a couple from Azerbaijan and they have many videos to put on any time of day for background vibes. In some videos they are making pizza and tea in a snowy forest with ingredients from their farm, in others they are harvesting fruits and vegetables, cooking foods in other idyllic locations. There is no music, just the sounds of the cooking, rooster, etc.

My #1 was One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. Also loved The Bell Jar, Hamlet (though I never would‘ve understood it by myself) and Slaughterhouse Five.
