been going back to these dudes a lot lately not sure why but I really do miss em. Been throwing on their entire discography but specifically been throwing on Their live album, Urbs in Horto, a lot lately. Very important band for me.

I’ve been into this band since 2017 & they inspired me so much back when I was in college. I was also listening to them right around when I was both getting into the concept of “mathy” music and going to my local shows in NJ for the first time. One of my most memorable shows was driving one of my newer friends to see Peaer on an autumn, Sunday night in a church recreational space, 40 minutes away on a super rainy night. The venue’s parking lot was gravel and next to the church’s graveyard and there was probably 20-25 people total, including the bands. And it was so worth it, hearing Peaer live finally and seeing their musicianship in person. I have a real love for bands that are trios of drums, bass, guitar & vox, how you can hear everyone individually, but also how just 3 people can create such a wall of sound together. It was so important for me to see them live at that age, and I’m so glad I pushed myself to make the drive down there. They haven’t come out with music since 2019, an album called A Healthy Earth which I had on repeat religiously. So to have a new single from them with that same guitar tone, funky time changes but new formulas and ideas has been incredibly lovely. I’m thankful they’re still around and continuing to create 🍐

*Highlight Tracks: “63 skies”/“eight ball”/“sex benefits.5” *Genre: Shoe-gaze/Noise Rock/Drum and Bass *One of my favorite live albums. It offers a rawer take on some Tagabow songs, and these live versions often feel lot moodier (in the best way possible). It also includes the delightful electronic interludes featured in between songs during their live sets. This record just really displays They are Gutting a Body of Water’s excellence and further solidifies them as one of the most interesting shoe-gaze acts today. *“63 skies” pummels you into the ground and leaves your chest caved in…I love it so much.

It’s what my basket is for, if it breaks then I’ll just die it’s not that serious. I don’t even have that many eggs to begin with. I grew up in a single-egg-basket-household, who are these people with multiple egg baskets, do they walk among us?

I feel like I’ve picked up so much good music by just instantly downloading an opening act’s album right after their set. Just saw Wishy at baby’s all right last night and they had a band called Plastic open up, tight band & tight name, I’m sold. I feel like too many people skip the opener and I get it it can get tiring but I already know I’m gonna like the headliner lemme get a nice little surprise. this has GOT to be my last music rec for a little bit…
