I feel like I only ever get on here to bitch and moan…oops. I currently manage a team of 15 and as such part of my roll is turning in time sheets. I feel like it’s a constant battle with some of these people; who take advantage of OT. And maybe it’s because I’m over two decade younger than them but I feel like they just constantly push and push and push their limits.

Had this same issue when I was a manager - some of staff would easily crank out a 60-70 hour week. When I joined, I was fresh off the heels of reading "Rest is Resistance" so I was basically like "no no we ain't doing this anymore, the company doesn't care about you, stop breaking your back for it" And then subtlety preaching the importance of rest for the rest of my tenure there.

jimmehgeebs That‘s what I’m trying to preach…the only issue is they get paid over time. So there’s no real incentive to stop. Maybe I just need to be firmer in my rest is important approach!

Work

It’s been killing me lately. I’ve been best down and dragged these past few months, but listen, I am so grateful to be doing SOMETHING. I just tell myself that it’s a blessin to have a job and to have a skill that will always have me employed. I wake up every morning dragging my ass and complaining but I’m so happy that I complain because I have a place to go where people depend on me. Life man gotta love it while you in it.

Payroll glitch

Do I actually work here? Nobody knows. Everyone once in a while I’ll fix somebody’s computer or restock the snacks to stay in peoples’ good graces (and so nobody asks too many questions.)

I’m not sure what it is but this app just feels like a safe space. Like I can say whatever I want (within reason) and not be judged for it! My stuff might be seen by 2 or 200 people but it’s not there to be objectified by the ever critical eye of the public consumer.
