I don’t know that it’s as bad as other movies, but it’s a very cheesy and silly movie I stumbled upon a while back. This movie combines all of the following: - The plot of An Extremely Goofy Movie - Rodney Dangerfield standup - A young Robert Downey Jr. - A performance by Danny Elfman (during the Oingo Boingo era) And somehow, despite everything, it kinda works.

We probably shouldn't have watched this as kids, but to this day my siblings and I bring up the Triple Lindy

"There's such a fine line between stupid and clever." This movie kind of covers all my ridiculous interests: music criticism, pop culture, the influence of Monty Python on everything else that came downstream, teenage boy humor. I don't know if it "defined" me but it certainly came along at a pretty pivotal point in the development of my sense of humor. Fun memory; my best friend and I saw this movie when it first came out in the theaters at a movie house in Eugene, OR where the rest of the audience didn't seem to understand that it was satire (I don't know how you could miss that, in retrospect). We were laughing hysterically (maybe stoned, too) and got the evil eye from a bunch of local heshers who seemed ready to give away their Judas Priest concert tees in exchange for a Spinal Tap version.
This movie is a hoot and a half. It's uncontroversial. When he breaks the fourth wall, you're there, he's here. It's magic.

☆ (TILT 2/7/25) ☆ This is my second Lady Gaga "Today I Listened To" and surely not my last. I think many people have been nostalgic for the music of the mid-2000s as we plunge headfirst into all of the heartbreak and chaos that 2025 is bringing. Enter "Abracadabra", a teaser for the upcoming LG7 album, that I really just chalked up as a fun, energetic dance song at first. But after listening to the song several times and coming across a TikTok video analyzing some of the lyrics, I feel like this is the perfect anthem for the concept of Joy as Resistance. The etymology of the word "abracadabra" is "I will create as I speak". In the face of adversity, we have no choice but to create the world we want to live in, molding ourselves into who we want to be without input from anyone else. We have to "keep our mind on the distance" — the life we crave and desire for us and others — "when the Devil turns around”. Link to the song on YouTube
