Made a WhatsApp group with all my film friends in it and have been using it coordinate going to screenings. It's so much fun! There's loads of little independent screenings happening where I live and some very good independent cinemas, but even if all you have is a TV you should start a film club too. This evening I'm off to an old pub that's been converted into an events space to watch The Garden by Derek Jarman ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Yes! I'm in one now and just watched Black Swan for the first time last night because of it. We're all dads, so we watch separately and congregate once a month to discuss the film choice, but it's still great!

Grab a couple friends, watch (once per week, together or separately) classics/canonicals you otherwise would never have gotten around to, discuss irl or on Zoom. Feel free to hate, but also feel free to love There is literally no other way to get yourself to watch Jeanne Dielman, but boy-oh-boy youโ€™ll be happy you did

a few years ago, one of my dear friends started hosting a regular movie night. we meet each monday and watch a movie together. theyโ€™ve organized a google form for all of us to pick 4-5 movies each year, and then we rotate picks and also rotate who makes dinner. itโ€™s quickly become one of the highlights of my week, and iโ€™ve gotten to know my friends so much better through their picks. as weโ€™ve kept going, we all get braver in picking weirder, more earnest, more depraved, more vulnerable movies. i highly recommend!

I've been really interested in silver casting for ages and finally managed to get a place on a carving and casting course at my local jewellery school. It's been an absolute blast, and as someone who's bad at making time to do creative stuff, having something timeboxed in that I've already paid for makes a huge difference. I was also for a long time adamant that the only thing I needed to pick up new skills was YouTube and some perseverance, I was absolutely wrong, there's nothing better than having an expert nearby and all the right tools on hand to make learning a new skill less painful. So take a class! Learn something new! Apply your innate ability to create beautiful things! Pictured: The two rings I've made so far, one was cast from a design I sculpted in blender and then 3d printed. I love it's lil' face ๐Ÿ˜Š

Went to an exhibition in London this weekend that was all japanese plastic food made to be displayed in restaurant windows. Super cool to see the process of how it's made. I love sculpting and modeling so it's right up my street. I also think there's something quite nostalgic about it because of it's similarity to the plastic toy food we would play with as kids.

This is my current favourite tasty stew, Halloumi works surprisingly well and hot olives slap, plus they're both salty. Ingredients: Half a jar Kalamata Olives 2 Tins finely chopped tomatoes (try and get the nice stuff) 2 Blocks haloumi 2 Aubergines 1 Tin of Cannellini Beans (optional) 1 Onion 2 Cloves of garlic 2 Tbsp Harissa paste Whatever herbs you have to hand that you think will work Stock cube Olive oil Method 1. Cube the haloumi and brown in pot with oil then set aside and do the same with the aubergine. 2. Dice the onions and fry them off in the oil, when they start to turn translucent add the minced garlic. 3. Once the garlic is done cooking dump in all the other ingredients and then add water until it's kind of gloppy(but not sloppy) 4. Cover and cook for 30 mins. 5. Serve with brown rice and nice olive oil for health. Thanks for reading my recipe, leave a comment if you try it x
