the original song is great, but this remix beautifully encapsulates a facet of the indie sleaze era that is equal parts hypnotic and hedonistic.

This is my second Lady Gaga "Today I Listened To" and surely not my last. I think many people have been nostalgic for the music of the mid-2000s as we plunge headfirst into all of the heartbreak and chaos that 2025 is bringing.
Enter "Abracadabra", a teaser for the upcoming LG7 album, that I really just chalked up as a fun, energetic dance song at first. But after listening to the song several times and coming across a TikTok video analyzing some of the lyrics, I feel like this is the perfect anthem for the concept of Joy as Resistance.
The etymology of the word "abracadabra" is "I will create as I speak". In the face of adversity, we have no choice but to create the world we want to live in, molding ourselves into who we want to be without input from anyone else.
We have to "keep our mind on the distance" โ the life we crave and desire for us and others โ "when the Devil turns aroundโ.
