MARY AND MAX
This is the best film you’ll ever watch. It is beautiful, sepia filled, and spewing with the colours of Sydney and NYC. It made me cry harder than ‘the Notebook’ and laugh more than I did watching ‘Bridesmaids’. This film is one of a kind, and (as a composer) the soundtrack is so unbelievably cool. Mary and Max has a place in my heart forever and I won’t ever stop recommending this film. You need to watch it. It is the epitome of bittersweetness and uncomfortable growth and you will learn so much just in your first watch.

i loveeee love love this movie. my parents showed it to me when i was definitely too young to watch it (in elementary school) and it stuck with me for years. just rewatched it a few months ago and it holds up so well

About time
This movie is my favorite movie of all time. literally nothing else comes close to this. its sad and happy, i have seen it a million times and yet i always walk away feeling better about the world It’s a movie that reminds you to cherish life and the small moments. the soundtrack alone is something to watch the movie for but you stay for everything else. I don’t know how else to describe how absolutely amazing this movie is

Your Name: most beautiful anime film I’ve ever seen. The track Katawaredoki makes me cry every single time. 500 Days of Summer: Don’t really gotta say much. A movie that has changed my outlook on relationships. Spider-Man 2: The best Spider-Man film in my opinion. Goes from almost leaving it all to getting it all. Alfred Molina is iconic in this. In the Mood for Love: this movie broke me. Can’t/won‘t go into detail. Watch it.

eternal sunshine of the spotless mind
watched this recently and loved loved loved- has romance, comedy, serious bits, depressing bits, heartfeltness and all wrapped up in this surreal pseudo sci fi conceit. the soundtrack is also amazing! it has that cozy yet bleak yet hopeful quality that a lot of early 2000s movies have. could also be a good one to watch once it’s wintertime, but hope you enjoy whenever you decide to watch!!

THE SPACE BETWEEN
When looking up in a densely packed forest, i find there is so much beauty in the cracks where the sunlight escapes between a canopy of trees. Like maps of rivers, or veins in the arm, the space between has so much merit in its own and more, so many stories to tell. I love looking up! We should all make more of a habit of it! Wings of desire!

Laying on the stairs stoically
Whether or not you have immediate access to a staircase, when you get the chance, I feel more of us should partake in the activity of laying/sitting on the stairs *stoically*. It is the perfect place! The connection between two realms, a sacred and overlooked space worth inhabiting. While drinking your morning coffee, reading the next chapter of your book, or listening to your favourite album, the stairs are bound in the world of in-between, maybe join them once in a while🤷‍♀️
