This morning the sunrise hit my book on Sargents works in just the right way to make it look like its glowing and i rlly felt like the scene he tried to capture came to life for those few minutes

Hyman Bloom's paintings are phenomenal, so visceral, so rich with color and texture.
seeing his work irl was so deeply moving. i really cherish the book i got of his paintings, i'm always returning to it for inspiration and just to enjoy his bold approach to the medium.

valoorie’s rec (wish I could re rec with pic.. had to make separate post) reminded me of this piece I saw at the Museum of Contemporary Photography here in Chicago called 8,146,774 Suns from Flickr (Partial) by Penelope Umbrico. She created this artwork in 2010 by searching for "sunset" on Flickr, selecting images from over 8 million results.
Here is a quote from her about it: "I thought it peculiar that the sun, the quintessential giver of life and warmth, constant in our lives, symbol of enlightenment, spirituality, eternity, all things unreachable and ephemeral, omnipotent provider of optimism and vitamin D ... and so ubiquitously photographed, is now subsumed to the internet — this warm singular object made multiple in the electronic space of the web, and viewed within the cool light of the screen”

its actually quite relaxing to do and depending on who you‘re writing to you get to yap a lot. My friend likes adding random questions to think about too in case you can‘t think of anything. Plus it‘s like a little time capsule you receive from friends or pen pals. Also your stationary actually gets put to use instead of catching dust if you‘re like me and enjoy buying and collecting it.

I’ve stumbled upon quenmix quite a while ago but their most recent set is by faaaar my favorite. The song choices together with the beautiful cafe backdrop is just soooooo good (and it has my fav jungle song in it too).
Their nha nhac series is basically djs playing their sets with the backdrop of vietnams city life (locations range from markets to barber shops and more) so if you’re a fan of checking out new dj sets or having chill music playing while working on stuff give it a try :)
