A new album by an old fav was released today. It’s dreamy as ever, but the music of Youth Lagoon 2.0 feels super specific. When he returned with the last one, I knew I was hearing the work of an artist caught in a fresh creative current, and I’m not surprised to see this phase continue.

Trevor Powers has always been a distinctly detailed songwriter, able to create worlds within his songs that push well beyond their runtime. On Rarely Do I Dream, Powers harnesses this to craft a sprawling, mystical account of his own life - part album, part audio memoir. Sonically, this is suitable dreamy and nostalgic, weaving his own home video audio throughout and thoughtfully layering his compositions within the static. It's like if the end of Scott Street was an album. There's a tactility to the sound that realises the stories being told whether they are suburban and personal, or mythical and folkloric. What a voice, what an album. Glad Powers is back.

Big rec here I was initially drawn in by the album art (always judge a book by it's cover) and ended up completely obsessed with the hypnotic chorus & atmosphere of this one. Had no idea it was isaac from Strange Ranger's new project until 3 minutes ago. If love and only love can break your heart What's this tearing mine apart? Oh yeah Oh baby The years flying faster all the time I lie awake and dream all night Oh yeah Oh baby So good

“People Who Aren’t there anymore”. They rarely miss but this album goes extra hard for those of us who like it a little more upbeat. also the album art goes hard as well
