I just finished a fiber class at my local art center and it felt really nice to be creative in a low stakes environment. I think everyone should take an art class! itโ€™s over now :( but I made this mini shibori dyed quilt

Maybe something artistic. My local library is having a tie-dye totebag lesson next month.

quilting a blanket or a jacket? intimidating. thrifting a 2 hour mini quilting project book and finding over 75 mini patterns to create cute little quilts to potentially turn into totes or mini tapestries to hang in your room? still intimidating but i think we can all agree it's significantly less scary than the first option. i thought it would be much harder than it is but cutting little shapes out of scrap fabric and sewing them on has made me feel like a little kid in art class in elementary school in the best way. and a bonus is i found all the scrap fabric in every color i needed at Seattle ReCreative, a thrift store for craft supplies, for $3!!! i'm currently working on the Pine Tree Retreat pattern!

I think reducing or eliminating our use of these huge megacorp platforms is ultimately the best way to fight back. I donโ€™t think we can fix a platform in which the addictiveness and brain rot element is foundational to its success. Even the โ€œgoodโ€ stuff is designed to keep us in its endless loop.

it's free and 100% human, I recommend NTS Radio, which is web-based and has a huge archive of recorded shows in many genres and topics. Bandcamp and Soundcloud also have playlists that feel more carefully curated than Spotify's I think. oh and college radios are a great place for discovering new music too. There's a site called campus-fm.com that let's you tune into different ones across the US :) disclaimer: i work for a radio station
