^ that icon reminded me of the Olympics, and the chaos that organised events can hold. Like the Olympics today is highly regarded as a celebration of peak human physicality, but its' history is really fascinating and also works with the claim to put normal people in the events today so we can understand how far we have all come lol
One guy disappeared in the 1912 marathon, royalty participated, there's the Jamaican bobsleigh team that had a whole movie based on their experiences at the Winter edition (Cool Runnings) etc etc.

Yesterday the teams got to run through their routines in the arena and you can watch them on Peacock (search for podium)
There are no announcers on the broadcast and no one in the stands, it’s just sights and sounds of gymnastics for 90 minutes.

I like to think of myself as a Russian nesting doll. I am my 3 and 5 and 11 year old self, all stacked inside of my 20s and now 30 year old self! Some of them are super stuck together and hard to get at but others like my 4 thru 7 year old self is easy to access. Like if I need to talk to kids, I just unpack a few layers and chat from that version of myself! We are all still in there, don’t forget to take some of the littler ones out to play once in a while.

i keep a few pre-stamped pre-addressed envelopes around for farther away friends and whenever inspiration strikes I send them whatever. Doesn’t have to be a long letter at all! Take the pressure off of it. It could be a sticker I like but would rather they have, or a clip from a magazine or just a note that says “hi I love you and call me!”. It costs less than a dollar and can mean a years worth of sustained knowledge that you’re in each others orbits

I just love him so much this sweet brilliant dude but I’m getting married to the woman of my dreams so it ain’t me. Ben deserves love . I have him casting a spell about it daily but he could use some backup.
