I started carrying a shoulder bag the past few years. Have a little collection started as I’m figuring out what I like/need in a bag.
True. It’s like asap rocky said, it’s not a purse it’s a satchel. I’m never gonna be caught dead with a fanny pack though, i just hate the look too much.
trans guy here. big fan of having a bag completely agree with you there, but i wear a fanny pack instead of a purse. makes it easier to not lose, plus less dysphoria inducing. i think cis guys have dysphoria too a little bit tbh
beyblade69 oh totally! i myself prefer a satchel or a fanny pack as well :) i meant purse in the general sense of an everyday bag which itself has been a gendered practice and therefore a gendered word applied most often to the prototypical “woman’s bag” — i suppose i was trying to reference and subvert that notion in the same breath, but it makes sense that the descriptor can be dysphoria inducing for that very reason!
It’s kind of strange that it’s a gender thing and it landed this way around when you consider men as like providers and the stronger body. Very strange never noticed

they prolly just are scared to get one in case they can’t style it!!! If u are a gift giver u should buy your male friends a nice bag… I like quiksilver and animal. Once I got confident with my first I was unstoppable and now am a Bag Guy

yeah i don't know how so many guys function without a bag entirely, at least carry a messenger bag or something if you're going to be fragile about it! it's just inconvenient at a certain point
I am a diehard backpack user, but I swapped it for a tote at this music fest bc they do not allow backpacks. It was an interesting experience. Not as organized or easy to carry but it got the job done! If i had to chose I would always go with a backpack but totes and the like seem to be pretty viable as an alternative.
grape for sure! yeahh totes can get messy easily.. i like messenger bags as an alternative since they’re still roomy but more structured!

I love throwing shit in my tote bag (currently has 3 deer bones, an art magazine, iPad and zyns) but Im starting to tire of it aesthetically. I yearn for a raw leather bag
