Like anything else that lots of people are telling me to do, I resisted meditation for ages (that’s my contrarian complex). The continuous search for purpose finally broke me down and I tried meditation, starting with short, guided practices on insight timer. This app has everything! Meditations, courses, music, trackers, and the eponymous timer. I am consistently impressed with the functionality of the app and the quality content that teachers generously share. If you’re using the free version and a particular piece of content really resonates, you can easily send money to the creator. Plus, once you get into it, meditation is like free entertainment, advice, and connection, all in one.

Insight Timer has to be the best meditation app of all time with guided meditations for any issue or purpose you can think of, a freeform mode where you set a timer and have it ring a bell when you’re done, or meditative music to listen to! And Clarity, formerly Thought Diary, is a delightful journaling, CBT, and mood tracking app 💌

This app has been a huge part of my life for over 5 years now. I have met so many incredible people on here and am able to create and share my full heart with a loving community🥹 This link is to my own teacher profile on the app, but poke around and you’ll find so many other teachers, courses, live sessions, and more💗🙏

So cooling, so grassy, so awake, but not jittery. Is it the switch from a second coffee to matcha, these new vitamins, or the the impending spring that has me feeling slightly more alert? Who knows. I’ll credit the matcha and continue to enjoy my little treat.

*favorite season and why * if you never had to work again what would you do * animal you relate to * morning person, night owl, or neither * fave book or film side story: we did first jobs as an inclusive icebreaker. Someone in the group pulled themselves up by their bootstraps as the individual tasked with running the contracts paperwork to buyers of their dad’s million dollar horses. Lollll. We tried.

Grilled, cold smoked, pickled, hot smoked, canned, in sushi, on rye, in rice bowls, on salad - I love mackerel in all its forms. It’s large enough to satisfy like tuna or swordfish, yet small enough to have less mercury. My usually low-key neurons feel like they’re positively dancing when the omega 3s hit. PS The Fishwife canned smoked mackerel in chili oil is a real treat
