i always thought people were lying about their partner being their best friend, but it’s totally true. i can talk to him about anything, i want to hang out all the time, i feel happy when we spend time together… we don’t share all of our interests, so we always have things to talk about. it’s like always having someone there for you to hang out with and talk to, and you guys also kiss and talk about getting married. you think about them when you see something cute, you think of them when you a hear a love song, you can see the future with them. i don’t worry about being ‘too much’ anymore, or talking to loud or being annoying or boring or sad, because he makes me feel okay with everything. it’s quite nice

loving your friends and fancying their friends

i've spent most of the year focusing on self-love and also valuing my friendships and putting the work and time into them... i feel better about myself than i have in years – i haven't really felt that loneliness from a lack of romance because i still experience intimacy in a different way. we go for dinner, to the cinema, to exhibitions, have little holidays and sleepovers... but now that i do feel so great, i feel like i've unlocked a new version of myself that's a bit more flirty and carefree lol. my friends are great and beautiful, and it turns out their other friends are too. as long as there's no history or anything you're complicating, i vote to have a look around and get to know your friends' friends!

there’s something so satisfying about a lengthy hangout. there are so many shifts and unspoken compromises between people, roles assumed and forfeited. it’s just awesome, i love my friends.

being strange and unique

i’m needing to remind myself that being odd and dressing uniquely is not a bad thing. going back to university and not knowing anyone in my classes while also showing up in a full tweed suit or a tetris cardigan or a long brocade jacket is okay. don’t let the uniqueness leave you just because people give you strange looks. be more like the girl that dresses in head to toe lolita coords every day. or the guy that came to class dressed as soulja boy for no particular reason. get weird with it!!
