taking and looking back at pictures, with the sudden hit of nostalgia will always make me feel human. idk what it is but looking at a physical image of what you took (what your life used to be like) somewhat grounds you in a way.

i found a box of my parent’s photos from when they first started dating to their wedding and around when i was born and made me realize: 1. there is so much more life to live!! and i hope i can look back on my 20’s with the same fondness they do 2. how nice it is to have physical photos - i never go through my camera roll but i love revisiting old journals or scrapbooks and i think printing photos would have the same effect. i find that the phone camera effect almost makes taking pictures feel more disposable or practical rather than artistic (for me personally, ik a lot of people who have really nice camera rolls on their phones) so maybe getting a camera or just thinking about memory capture differently would aim me in this direction

I always try to consider what little moments happen every day that you might otherwise overlook. Like, for me-I always want to look back on photos of things that I would consider to be “everyday memories”. While it’s great to have pics of birthdays and special memories like holidays, I always find the ones that mean more are just the plain, everyday ones. So things like someone in your family cooking dinner? Take a picture. Going for a walk? Picture. Driving? just take a picture!! Those simpler moments are what you’ll really want to look back on!!
