I'm part of a songwriting group that meets monthly and presents recorded songs. Last Sunday it was proposed that we could share what we're currently working on more frequently (in a shared drive). Tried this for a few days and am more secure than ever in the belief that it is more fun preserving some mystique around what you're doing, saving exhibition for the final product (or at least a product that is emphatically a song and not scraps), and not letting people see behind the curtain!!

I saw something recently that sharing your progress can actually have a negative impact on productivity because you get a little hit of dopamine from sharing, so you feel less inclined to way for the bigger hit later on when you finish

This is really great because it forces you to finish things and not be a perfectionist about it!

This is something I love to do. I have no concept of their quality but that doesn’t really matter. They sit in my notes app (or voice memos if I’m feeling Brave). They will never get instrumentation nor will they ever leave my phone, but I don’t mind.
