I‘ve been wanting to get more into hyperpop-y, experimental pop, psychedelic pop, and electronic-pop type music but I have no clue where to start, I’m willing to give anything a listen:) some artists i like that fit into those genres already: rebecca black, charli, mag bay, FKA twigs, she’s green, tanuki-chan, caroline loveglow, getting into imogen heap

Emily Blue is also good. She rebranded a couple years ago, but her early stuff definitely fits into this category. Her 2 albums, *69, and The Afterlove, are so fun to listen to!

if you like charli and rebecca black you might like cece natalie! her vibe is sort of like very DIY early 2010s club pop

echoing Oklou! Also you neeeeed to listen to Amnesia Scanner and Clarence Clarity. AS Amygdala scratches that good part of the brain and wa sin my top 3 songs of last year so start with that. I think Cancer in the Water by CC is also a fun intro to their work or “What Year is It JFC” which also came out in 2024. You’d also probably really love. “Be Your USA” is one of my fav hyperpop-adjacent sobfs ever. If you want true irony poisoned goofy zoomer hyperpop give food house a listen, thos moser is a classic. “home” by twoshell is also a perfect song. SOPHIE forever and for always, I believe she is one of if not the most influential artist of our time, gone but never forgotten!!

This is a playlist I made which contains pop songs I think should be more popular so it’s a bit of a mess between obscure indie pop, forgotten 80s bangers, underground SoundCloud hyperpop. But for your specific likes I’m co-signing oklou and also throwing in The Hellp, Jane Remover, Frou Frou and Doss https://open.spotify.com/playlist/1Wr1qF68PiEzdcOXY1ZmJz?si=mNuyrO2aSvunKk7YjI3Xgg&pi=EHfzGzaeQ2Kf4

OKLOU !!!! Just saw her in concert and it was so amazing I cried! Been following her for a while now and EVERYTHING is good! Galore and Choke enough are her two albums/LPs that are a good starting point!

and like we all know there’s no one truly like her, that’s a given. finding someone on the same plane as her is not easy. i’m sure you already know to look to sega bodega and arca for her heavier, boundary pushing side. and hannah diamond for the bubblegum on steroids side. saya gray is a good match, if not the best match, experimentally imo. not as intense and in-your-face but just as interesting. you might also really like some 90’s- early 2000s björk and early fka twigs in terms of production sound. a little bit more out there is kill alters… however a lot of their earlier catalogue is like more ambient and industrial territory. maybe the more experimental bits of rosalía’s motomami? i hope some of these help </3

For ridiculousness/comedy, I recommend Community, Always Sunny and Cobra Kai (cringe at many points but so worth it imo) I have also been getting into Succession! I havent finished it yet— I have also heard it gets pretty crazy, so fair warning for that for nostalgia, I always go back to Liv & Maddie or Henry Danger those shows are so incredibly cheesy it’s healing. ive seen them tens of times each I am also starting to watch Gilmore Girls with my s/o and its interesting so far:) this guy is my hero vvv

Have you heard of Preston? yes you have. Napoleon Dynamite was filmed there. I drive through Preston every time I go on a trip to a cabin further north in Idaho, and every time I do I think about what a silly town it is. Population: ~6,000 Everyone there drives a Ford truck because there’s a Ford dealership in the center of town. Love that place so much
