And it was interesting. She uses political science, philosophy, and other systems to consider current issues and some really fascinating, relevant topics. I f with her vibe.
This girl is so interesting to watch, she puts so much effort into her videos. visuals: stunning, topics: relevant, analysis: original.
Got so much of my recommended reading from her videos too, sources are there.
All her videos with make you go:
"Now this one's a thinker! 🤔"
Genuinely.
Also jReg does a lot of ironic political and social commentary that makes you go: "Now wait a minute 🤓👆"
i typically steer clear of the video essay format unless I find them engaging - most of the time video essays fall flat as much as short form content. Zee’s channel has really changed my mind on this sort of thing
She makes videos analyzing pretty much anything within modern society with social media, gender, sexuality, and loneliness/isolation being prevalent themes
I do enjoy the declaration of her being “politically homeless” - she never gets trapped in or entertains or privileges one camp of thinking over the other. she’s very witty and sharp to boot
Next time there’s a blizzard, I recommend going outside and eating a Hershey Kiss. The chocolate is better cold and enjoyed simultaneously with the wonders of nature.
I know I arrived late to the party but OMG I love this book… history, multi-generational themes of the immigrant family, love and loss… like could it get any better? It’s been 5 days and I’m halfway done already. Big plot twist happened and I was like😟 Also reading Middlemarch that Min Jin Lee coincidentally said was her favorite book in a recent interview…on my Min Jin Lee grind.
