This just got me thinking of last week: My Mum and I were checking out at the supermarket at peak hour, they (the conglomerate) only had one register open (they’re trying their very best to not pay as many workers as possible and guide customers to the self checkout) working this poor young woman (not much older than 17 if I had to guess) to the bone.
She was super frazzled and apologetic for mis-scanning a few of our items. But my Mum, bless her, a petite lil’ lady in her 70s, took such an effort to reach over to offer a reassuring touch on her arm “no you are doing so well, thank you!” we said “you’ve got nothing to apologise for, you’re all good, you deserve more” and “I’m sorry they’re doing this to you. We could say something with more venom but they’re probably listening hey haha”
I don’t know, I hope it stays with her, god knows I needed some of that when I worked in retail
