i rly like collecting my absolute favorite music / movies / books on audio because then it cant be taken away when a streaming service decides to get rid of it. u dont have to curate EVERY single thing u like but the really special stuff that u feel is intrinsic to you should make the cut. it makes it more special that way. physical media feels like something to be taken care of, like a plant or a pet. its a precious, physical manifestation of your life and preferences and personality. the only downside is if ur in a house fire u can't save them but other than that i think physical media does more good to collect than harm.

whether films, books, vinyls or cds - physical media is great and important. nothing more satisfying than seeing your collection grow and being able to watch/listen to anything you want, no matter if it’s on a streaming service or not

While cleaning up the shed, my parents and I found some old cd's and a cd rack. We kind of have this idea that whataver is put on the internet will stay there and although, yes things can come back from the deepest or most abandont parts, just like all other things it somewhat decays. So as of now, I got some cd's again (mostly secondhand). I'm not the type who then starts collecting and consuming for no reason. I'll probably get just enough for the rack to be filled. So my rec would be to think of your favourite genres or specific albums (or with any other media) and then get only those in physical media. Now whatever happens, you'll have it, while also not overspending or consuming <3

Blu-ray, vinyl records, maybe cassettes are your thing! Physical media is underrated. Some reasons physical media is great. • It’s fun to curate a collection of favorites • They come in fun packagin and sometimes include fun bonuses (cards, stickers, bonus features/tracks) • Streaming services suck. They’re like landlords for your favorite movies and TV shows.

i went to an all-girls boarding school in western Massachusetts. almost got expelled, DID get suspended for some dumb, regular teenage shit that the faculty reacted to like i was an actual felon instead of a 15 yr old, formerly homeschooled goody-two-shoes. anyway, it recently came out that one of the history teachers that has been there for 30 years was grooming and SA'ing girls and the faculty had been covering it up. luckily i was never involved with him, never had a class with him, but its still weird knowing that he was a dorm parent and would do week-end nightly check-ins in the dorms, he lived at school with us practically, had a house directly next to campus, etc. i wasn't close with him but i KNEW him, he gave me bad vibes, and now 30 years later all his shit and the schools shit is getting aired out. feels good to be vindicated in my suspicions and the unfair treatment of students at that hellschool but my heart goes out to the many victims, named and unnamed, that he violated over the years.
