I’m not sure if this is a phrase I spun up or heard it somewhere in passing. Its very useful when conveying a distain for someone’s taste.

Someone does something you think is dumb / tacky / a bad decision — “That makes so much sense for you” Friend doesn’t want to spend money at a bar, asks to pregame outside a liquor store — “No if I was poor I’d be doing the same thing” Someone mentions something (like a movie or restaurant) and asks if anyone likes it when you know it’s clearly bad, toss someone under the bus — “You should ask Jeff, he tends to like things like that” Someone asks if the cake they baked was bad because they’re self conscious about it — “I mean I wouldn’t say it was good” or “if I was you I’d never make this again”

i’m from northern alabama, and i’m not 100% sure this is completely southern, but it killllls me every time i hear an older relative say it. it’s so brutal. another one is “you think you’re shit on a stick, but you’re just a fart on a splinter!” there are many more, but those are the first two to come to mind. they just don’t make sayings like they used to.

i definitely stole this banter from somewhere i can’t for the life of me remember where, but i see a lot of people using the ‘…i don’t even know her’ bit and feel like we should retire it and switch to this. example convo them: this morning i got Toothbrush Fur caught in my teeth you: i used to play bass in highschool for Toothbrush Fur
