If you've read any Philip K. Dick you might have heard of his book VALIS, in which he explores a life-altering religious experience he had using a character modeled after part of himself. This album is like the disorienting, biblically-accurate-angel, overwhelming sonic equivalent of that. The riffs are constantly shifting but at times almost in a way where it's like they're taken apart and then the bits that are added as flourish or an "unfolding" ends up shifting into a different riff, but there's also lots of callbacks to the forms and structures of different motifs throughout. This album has been continually mind-fucking me in the best way possible for the past 2 weeks. Definitely not for everyone, but if it's up your alley, it's up your alley.
