Watching this movie at age 5 made me want to become a musician and gave me an appreciation for jazz. Also the cinematography is peak.

the scene when they hear themselves on the radio for the first time and they are screaming and jumping around the appliance shop and Steve Zahn kisses the cardboard cutout is absolute pure joy and delight! I watched this movie soooo much too!!

i went in expecting "movie musical pseudo-biopic," but i got a fantastical deep dive into a downward spiral. several scenes that will rattle around in my head forever. it's not a sleeper, but i put it off for way too long because i didn't know what it really was; it sure ain't Chicago.

begone dull care - norman mclaren

abstract animated film from 1949, this dude's art is innovative and creative and just so much fun, (i'd also recommend neighbours, canon, a chairy tale, and opening speech by him as well.) the music and the visuals for this film were made in tandem, and it's a really cool representation of sound, and it lights my heart up with joy. also brilliant to watch stoned.
