I wonder if people in older generations had situationships like from the 1940s or like did Rutherford B Hayes have a sitch
@JAKE-PERKINS my grandpa is 102 and fought in WWII and met a girl in the war and protected her from the other american soldiers being creeps to her and formed a friendship. they wrote eachother for years and later he visited her and was shocked that she was waiting for him that whole time to marry her when he was like “uh you were a child when we met and i have always seen you as a little sister and have a fiance now” and he married my grandmother and she moved on and married a famous typographer and they remained friends for many decades. while he was in the war he was also pen pals with a girl back home and took her to her debutante ball (he was from a small town and was excited by the high society goings-ons) after coming home. he still likes telling the story of the ball but he never seriously dated her after the penpal situationship and met my grandmother, etc. rest is history. that’s my secondhand summation of 1940‘s situationships.
mine was "typing" on Snapchat earlier for the first time in months and my heart FLUTTERED. humiliating.
