OFFLINEBody Meat is the genre-defying project of the Philadelphia born NY-based musician Chris Taylor. His experimental sound bounces from electronic and nu-metal to IDM and glitch pop, and I was first introduced to his music in 2022 from his Injury Reserve collaboration Ghost, and it was cool to see him pop up on Coco & Clair Clair’s (PI #366) Be With U remix with Deto Black (PI #320) last year. His approach is as dynamic as his music and he marked the release of his single North Side (a track reminiscent of a video game soundtrack itself) with a real game that he developed that “takes place within the song”, which is available for download here. His debut album Starchris comes out on August 23rd, and until then he’s dropped some singles for you to enjoy. Our New York readers can catch him play a headline show this Wednesday, August 7th at Purgatory. Lucky for us, Chris is here to tell us what he’s been into.
