Gram Parsons died at 26 in 1973. His wish was to be cremated and have his ashes spread at Joshua Tree, but his family wanted to bury him with a quiet service in NOLA. So, his friends STOLE HIS BODY from LAX in a borrowed hearse, drove to Joshua Tree, poured 5 gallons of gasoline over him, and lit a match. They spread 35 lbs of his charred remains at Cap Rock. The rest of his body was eventually buried in Louisiana.
