Talia Ryder is a Buffalo-born, New York City-based actor + dancer, and someone totally worthy of the 400th Perfectly Imperfect post crown. Ryder’s career was kicked off in 2015 by landing the role of Hortensia, along with her sister Mimi, in the Broadway production of Matilda the Musical. She’s since starred in Eliza Hittman’s acclaimed independent film Never Rarely Sometimes Always, Olivia Rodrigo’s “Deja Vu,” and the Spielberg 2021 adaptation of West Side Story, among others, as well as directing music videos for Del Water Gap and working with Saint Laurent. Talia plays the lead in one of 2023’s hottest indies, Sean Price Williams’ The Sweet East, alongside Simon Rex, Ayo Edebiri, Jeremy O. Harris, Jacob Elordi, and a bunch of other legends. If you’re in New York City, go see the film at IFC while it’s still there, and if you live elsewhere try to catch it on the East Coast tour. Lucky for us, Talia is here to tell us what she’s been into.
