The earliest bits of hollywood gossip! I'm fascinated by Kenneth Anger. I love his films, his books, everything. I recently watched a documentary about him on youtube and it made be a bit obsessed. He's a true Hollywood icon.

If there are two things my work is nothing without, they are my Newspapers.com subscription and my extensive collection of what I like to refer to as “pile of shit celebrity biographies.” There are a number of basic qualities that you should look for if you want to build a museum-worthy library of gossip: low print run , publishers you’ve never heard of, a relationship to The National Enquirer, and 20 point type. These books are usually written by deranged fans , disgruntled former associates , or alienated family members, and they are often accompanied by CDs that you will never listen to. Be careful not to get duped by the self-published literature that comes out in the immediate aftermath of a celebrity death: these books  are often less than 20 pages long, and you are going to be disappointed! I’ve been had by these unscrupulous death scammers more than once and it always gives me a laugh, but beware the novice collector.

A great book about the birth of Los Angeles based around the intertwining portraits of engineer William Mulholland, director DW Griffith, and evangelist Aimee Semple McPherson. It presents the city as founded upon myth, greed, and man’s desire to conquer nature- which I think fits into the narrative of just about any metropolis in the USA. In New York City, we have a tendency to write off LA as some kind of self-indulgent city of cars and convenience, but there’s a part of me that thinks that LA’s image is far more honest than NYC’s: it more nakedly illustrates our innate desire as humans to exploit the Earth and each other to claim what we think we deserve as individuals. It’s a true illustration of the “every man for himself” brand of American ambition, and, in my opinion, New York is exactly the same, but we’re just a bit better at hiding it.

I've gotten really into the side hobby of strassing things with rhinestones... I go to bohemian crystal in downtown la and get all my supplies then just sit and spend hours hand placing rhinestones onto whatever prop or accessory I've decided to bling out. Not everything needs to have rhinestones though, that would be lame... But I like strassing random things or props. I have a gold rhinestone toy gun in my house, working on stoning a pack of cigarettes right now. The E6000 glue must be killing my braincells though.

Almost all of my furniture is 80s deco/ post modern. I love Karl Springer furniture. Anything that embodies the vibe of Miami Vice. It sounds funny but my next album was really inspired by that kind of interior design. I feel like when I see certain images of sleek 80s decor I can hear the kinds of songs that should be playing there. Everyone should sex up their home with a little jaguar stature or some faux marble tables... Mirror above the bed, that kind of thing y'know?

I don't know why this film genre ever died... Corny to some but I find them inspiring. Basic Instinct, Sliver, Body Double, Fatal Attraction. All have such incredible set design and visual inspiration that's so creatively stimulating. The plot lines are so stupid but young Michael Douglas is hot, so who cares!
