Almost all of my furniture is 80s deco/ post modern. I love Karl Springer furniture. Anything that embodies the vibe of Miami Vice. It sounds funny but my next album was really inspired by that kind of interior design. I feel like when I see certain images of sleek 80s decor I can hear the kinds of songs that should be playing there. Everyone should sex up their home with a little jaguar stature or some faux marble tables... Mirror above the bed, that kind of thing y'know?

I’m not sure about the exterior - maybe an old apartment in Paris or NYC, maybe a traditional little house in coastal Italy, maybe something else entirely. Inside, to sum it up, eclectic. Furniture and decorations I’ll have gathered over the years, the best things will have a story behind them. There’ll be books in every single room, and somewhere to actually sit and read them. While I’m at it, same goes for music, record players or a radio or an instrument in every room. Stationary and arty stuff everywhere, too, I’d like to be able to create as soon as the mood hits. Also, a really nice tv with shelves near it that will hold an extensive DVD collection - physical media everywhere! Pictures on every wall, regardless of if they have any sort of relevance to each other, just whatever I think is cool. Plates and mugs and cutlery and stuff will all be mismatched, the only common theme being “I think it’s cute”. Plants everywhere. Warm lighting, preferably mostly ambient. Plenty of blankets and cushions and rugs (all the floors will be wood or tile, no carpet). Some sort of cool feature, like a balcony, or maybe a window seat. Oh my god, the things I’d do to have a balcony!! Completely maximalist, but in a balanced way - cozy, not overwhelming. Nice windows, also. The vibe is teenage girl meets chic grandma, but also the kind of thing my friends would see and say “omg that’s SO you!!”

This is going to be rambly because I don't have the architectual terminology, but I'm a fan of homes that combine inside and outside. Open windows, covered patios. There are probably better examples of this style, but this scandi one in Seattle that got an NYT write-up is a good example. It's a little too modern for my taste, but this photo really captures the mood I'm going for. I've become more and more intrigued by handmade homes. The Craftsman Builder is an amazing book studying these kind of houses in the West. Quincy Jones' home with its capacious living room and massive window/indoor trees has always spoken to me. Generally I'm happy with lots of wood grain in the interior and I love a low and long midcentury ranch, especially if it's tucked in some ferns.

I've gotten really into the side hobby of strassing things with rhinestones... I go to bohemian crystal in downtown la and get all my supplies then just sit and spend hours hand placing rhinestones onto whatever prop or accessory I've decided to bling out. Not everything needs to have rhinestones though, that would be lame... But I like strassing random things or props. I have a gold rhinestone toy gun in my house, working on stoning a pack of cigarettes right now. The E6000 glue must be killing my braincells though.

I don't know why this film genre ever died... Corny to some but I find them inspiring. Basic Instinct, Sliver, Body Double, Fatal Attraction. All have such incredible set design and visual inspiration that's so creatively stimulating. The plot lines are so stupid but young Michael Douglas is hot, so who cares!

The earliest bits of hollywood gossip! I'm fascinated by Kenneth Anger. I love his films, his books, everything. I recently watched a documentary about him on youtube and it made be a bit obsessed. He's a true Hollywood icon.
