I was quite bored in 2019. I got really into cars. I learned everything about them. Why did I do this? I didn’t know how to drive and this was the only way to motivate myself. They film all of the car youtube videos on Angeles Crest. It’s beautiful and you can drive very fast. I now live 10 minutes away from this place at a house nestled deep in a river valley. My roommates went to Deep Springs and the house is 98 years old.

Had the choice to buy a car with automatic transmission (which would have been the easier, comfortable option since I've only ever driven this type of car) or a manual one. Chose the option that made my life a little more difficult but I taught myself how to drive it and just drove myself to work for the first time today. The amount of pride and accomplishment I felt was so worth the hassle. GET OUTSIDE OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE!

I love driving. If you’ve sat in my passenger seat you’ll think this answer is bullshit, but it’s true. I drive long distances quite a lot, and I love the meditative aspects of a long trip somewhere. In the summer I drive a 1991 Mercedes 500SL my Dad and I have poured almost double its Kelly Blue Book value into, and I have a nondescript daily driver for the rest of the year. I hope I can buy more cars soon, as I want to burn more and more money on shit I love for the rest of my life.

This city has the best climate in America. I love it so much. I wish I lived here. The AI researchers, the big tech yuppies, the fact there’s an ethnic neighborhood for cishet frat bros—I love it more than anywhere else in America. The group houses, the cults, the rationalists, the technoptimists, the pure and untapped creative alpha. I have literally not spent more than two weeks in San Francisco. It’s a social scene the size of Dimes with 100x higher impact. “Oh let’s go to clandestino” No let’s go to The Interval at the Long Now.

I was walking around the Upper West Side this morning. It was 50 degrees. It was 6 am. I learned of this band a few days ago. I was sad. I was in a vaguely mystical state. I ran into someone from downtown. His girlfriend had broken her hip at Bella Ciao a few nights ago. They capture such a particular emotion—this song is my favorite.
