I love taking fitness classes IRL and I think boutique fitness is so interesting and literally, like I said, could just make this whole thing about that. So if you ARE interested in recommendations of studios and teachers and stuff reach out to me bc I am going to STOP but I did wanna say-- if you’re someone who’s been practicing yoga for a long time, especially at home, it can get kind of monotonous- you start to be able to predict where you’re going next, like, Warrior 2, then Reverse Warrior, then Triangle. Etc. So I recently found this girl I am in love with and her name is Nicole and she doesn’t upload videos very often but they’re like the closest to an in-studio experience I’ve ever had at home. Her sequencing is so creative!!  She’s an artist. It’s definitely for more experienced people, but if that is you, I think you will love her. She is amazing at coming up with crazy flows that are so fun and challenging. And a lot of them are a nice hour long!!If you are newer to yoga and are maybe burnt out on Adrienne, I think you would love Yoga With Kassandra...  she’s really accessible.. this is all free on YouTube I should have specified

if you told me six years ago that I would be a devoted follower of a bay area yoga couple I would have probably believed you, but would've rolled my eyes. But after regular practice, taking stock of where I started and where I am now, yoga has changed my life. I do like the occasional class, but doing it at home is so much cheaper and you can build a foundation to know a little more about what you're doing. They have classes for all levels and a paid Patreon channel if you want longer ones (75, 90, 120 minutesđŸ”„) I'm normally not into the woowoo stuff, but something about Flo's assurances that you don't need to worry about how a pose *looks* only how it *feels* makes all the difference. Focusing on your breath and his vocal cues help tune you into parts of your body you forget about. And that awareness reaches far to so many other areas of your life. If you're at all curious about yoga, don't roll your eyes or by a cynic like 2018 me. Get into it.

As someone who avoids most if not all physical exercise her pilates exercises are so good. I do them when im in the mood and usually go for the 20-30 minute (i just finished this one) workouts which go by fast but still feel challenging in a great way. And then when my abs feel sore the next day its like ok am i a bad bitch or what

I unsubscribed for a while because my puppy was attacking me every time I would exercise so I resigned myself to a sedentary lifestyle but I think soon it will be time to get back on the horse. She offers Pilates, barr, yoga, standing counter workouts, pre/peri/postnatal workouts and dance workouts from herself and several other instructors. There are a lot of videos that use resistance bands, Pilates balls, Pilates circles and ankle/wrist weights too. Try the linked video to get a feel for her style!! Before I signed up for her membership I would just do her free videos on YouTube! I should do this workout right now honestly
đŸ€§ (edit I did it and it’s crazy how different I feel) I love her because she doesn’t talk about the visual results her workouts will help you achieve but about how good it feels to exercise for your mental and physical health!!! She offers meditations too! I would also recommend 30-day yoga challenges from Yoga with Adriene or Travis Eliot both will really whip you into shape and help you build foundational strength. I recommend Ballet Beautiful with Mary Helen Bowers if you hate yourself and want a cold waspish ballerina to punish you humble you and nearly kill you. It’s extremely challenging but rewarding.

Okay... I think honestly people are surprised to learn that I am deeply obsessed with like, “health and fitness” culture. I think it is SO FUN and riveting and it occupies sooo much of my thoughts and my time. I have been told that this does not suit my personality. It’s like God flipped a wrong switch and gave “loves to work out” to me instead of the right person. But if I was REALLY being honest in this list and not trying to impress anyone, all my recommendations would be about that. But I’m trying for some variety, so I will just say that the government does not want you to know about The Ready State.Dr. Kelly Starrett is an amazing man. If you have a foam roller, lacrosse balls, tennis balls, a towel, NOTHING, there’s a 5/10/20/30 minute video you can do where you follow along with him as he talks you through mobilizing and restoring  function to your own tissues and muscular systems and teaches you how one affects the other etc. If that sounds really boring,  you don’t have to retain any of the information, you can just give yourself a better massage than anyone you would pay could. It hurts really bad fyiI think everyone in the world should be devoting at least like 5 min a day to this. It will literally keep you from needing surgery later. “Doctors HATE him!” etc(Equally great alternative, higher production value- Jill Miller’s YogaTuneUp balls -- --  and corresponding videos. I think she has a lot of free Youtube stuff too that might not even require lacrosse balls)

Cerave Healing Ointment is Vaseline’s superior. The whole “Cerave is better than the shit at Sephora that costs 200 dollars and has fragrances that are bad for your skin” stuff is well covered territory so we won’t go over it.. Anyway after putting on all my skincare shit I will put a very thick layer of Cerave Healing Ointment all over my entire face. Every night.I use Retin-A so my face hurts really bad all the time and is peeling and dry. Which I guess is supposed to be a good thing. Here are other things that help with that:Face Hero oilSulwhasoo Overnight Vitalizing Ginseng MaskHada Labo Hyaluronic AcidI can’t use it any more due to what I was saying about my face being on fire but I really recommend Paula’s Choice 2% BHA. and also all her other products. Reliable brand. If you just want to go to one place and get everything you need, we trust her. Nothing is going to irritate your skin or have anything dumb in it.

I read Clare Barron’s play Dance Nation and it touched something in me that was so personal and deep in there that I then read every other play of hers currently available, and they ALL did that for me. Without exception. I don’t know if it’s because she’s interested in the same things I am, or if it’s as simple as “she’s a beautiful writer”, but whatever it is, it feels like I told her all my secrets except they’re secrets I didn’t even know I had. That’s the best way I can describe her work- especially the monologues- they make me feel like I didn’t know that feeling or that impulse or experience was something I felt but it is. Absolutely thrilling to read. And perform! Not that I have gotten the privilege of being in one of her plays. I am unfortunately just talking about reading them out loud alone in my apartment, performing every character, recording the whole thing in photo booth, and then never watching it and deleting it 4 months later.
