They might suck now, but at least they suck together. I respect that.

Talking Heads, XTC, The Replacements, Pulp, Pavement, Big Star, Galaxie 500, Women, NoMeansNo, etc. It's better to burn out in a blaze of glory than drown slowly and bring everyone down with you. We've all had to witness the last decade or so of Morrissey in pain and horror but at least he didn't drag Johnny Marr's name into the dirt as well. You either die the Beatles or live long enough to see yourself become the Beach Boys c.1980s-90s

Saw two of their "farewell" shows, 19 years apart (Haa), and I don't see how anyone can ever replace what they do, and have done. Not even their new digital avatars

They were the best band, and then they broke up. The VU reunion is also the least nostalgia-grabbing, most interesting and rewarding band reunion that I can think of. It burnt out quick but produced some great stuff. Linked “Coyote” above, their only “new” song before they broke up again Television also broke up too soon. I also wish Girls could have made more music together… and there are so many others

Two performances in the same space recorded 21 years apart. The first (on an Intel cs430 webcam) in August 2001, just after my mom and I moved from virginia to a small house on cape cod. The second (on a Sony pxw-x70) in August 2022, the night before she moved out and left the cape for good. I can't stop watching this and it pains me to admit that I love what I see. There's certainly not much discipline or talent on display, but I'm charmed by something else.

is the best place I’ve been to in NY to browse CDs. Everything is well organized and they still respect the format. There’s a large $1.50 section that has plenty of all the old bargain bin classics, but will also occasionally please with something unexpected.
