Apex electronics in the San Fernando Valley has hundreds of thousands of antique electronic components from every discipline, including airplane parts, power plant gear, medical equipment, hifi, proton packs, vacuum tubes with numerical filaments that count to 10, and file cabinets full of the most beautiful knobs of every shape and size and color. I like to go there and soak up all of that ingenuity collecting dust in the aisles.

Old tech is cool and weird. Its all pretty cheap on ebay except for niche stuff. I have to resist the urge to start a CRT collection.

One of my favorite ways to practice guitar is to just play along with a whole record, and try to copy every lick, but never rewind. The rush  of playing along with a band in real time keeps you on your toes, and even if you only have time to mimic the rhythmic content or the rough melodic shape, you're working on so many things simultaneously - most importantly your ear. It's so much fun to play along with an Albert King or Marc Ribot Y Los Cubanos Postizos album.

I love taking photos of friends with my camera. Even the most casual moments become mythical in reflection as we grow older together. My motto is to never ask someone to smile, make them smile.

A bioluminescent tide hit Los Angeles a couple of years ago, and I swam in the ocean around midnight, with the waves illuminated neon blue, as well as the water around my body, and even the wet sand like little explosions as I walked. I imagined being eaten by a neon shark. My hope is to swim in bioluminescence beneath the aurora borealis someday.
