doing something productive as meditative practice is not a new idea but it just feels so much more punk and anticapitalist to make Something Of Personal Value for u and ur friends without feeling like u have to monetize it u can just make the bracelets, u don’t have to open an etsy shop u know this isn’t as black and white as im saying, i think there’s a greater moral question of like, valuing your time and making a job for yourself out of something enjoyable and blah blah blah but what i mean is that i like to see people making art just for the act

stop forcing INSTANTANEOUS aesthetics

all those packed, roughed up journals and dingy carhart jackets and suitcases covered in stickers you see on pinterest were not created by overconsuming a bunch of bullshit from amazon and decorating them in one night! they're were made from months and years of real and genuine love and use of the objects. curate your aesthetics slowly and more mindfully instead of trying to disingenuously copying everything you see on pinterest for an instant gratification. those tiktoks you see of brand new planners overflowing with random junk is not realistic and impractical. decorate however you want but do it genuinely for yourself, not to recreate an aesthetic you think you need. your stuff will look better in the end if you love it truly and well!!

Spending money on physical media & experiences

i hope the threat of us losing something like TikTok makes people realize how little of our own shit we actually own online. if you love something and want to own it forever GO OUT AND PICK IT UP. the stuff we own and the things we do make us who we are, don’t sleep on curating your surroundings.

Take this with a grain of salt but

Somewhat puritan of me but most of the “passive income” rhetoric to me just sounds like rent seeking, in some cases literally. I think the only worthwhile thing to do is to make something you dont have to replicate yourself. Take photos and sell them as stock with Adobe or something. But like: Don’t be buying things just to resell, cause that’s a crappy thing to do.
