An aging raver goes to an inner-city East London High School to tell the kids that things used to different and maybe a little cooler. The kids aren't exactly sure if they should belive him. One of my new favorite music documentaries. For fans for Adam Curtis, UK Jungle, and ethnography.

I'm not really a documentary person but this one is like a visual collage. It's made up from actual historic footage and reshoots with an incredible score. It's the history of teenagers in the US, England, and Germany but it's also about the way young people are shaped by war and industrialization. It's so compelling it goes by super fast, can't recommend enough.

A documentary about grafitti and breakdancing. Between the antagonists (Ed Koch and Cap), the pearl clutching public and the charismatic subjects it really keeps you engaged. Also really solid editing. Tony silver was on one. you can watch it on nightflight but if money is tight Iā€™m sure if you poke around the usual spots you can find it ;)

it's like a river flowing in the opposite of the culture. it's very important to participate in the counterculture and participate in public because the culture is a toilet but the counterculture is pure and true. anything can be the counterculture if it's countercultural. i believe the fast casual bowl restaurant to be one of our greatest countercultural institutions today simply for the fact that so many of our countercultural warriors are eating fast casual grain or salad bowls in order to fuel up for their day jobs.
