Engage with ur city! Go to the little gigs and events and garage sales that someone printed 40 posters at their uni library for. Listen to those soundclouds. Read those poems. Remember that if something isnt ‘good’, it can still enrich your life.

go to community-focused galleries/film festivals/poetry readings/etc in your area and see what people are doing you'll meet other like-minded people, you'll be inspired but less intimidated bc you met the real human person behind the work, or you'll see some stuff you think is really shitty and you'll be inspired to prove yourself by making something better it's all a win-win AND you'll be supporting local artists

try a local student show to find cool stuff; it doesn’t have to be expensive; it‘ll cost more than a bootleg ferris buller poster; but it’ll support a hungry artist and add more to your life than a blank wall or a pop figure

go to events even if u think they’ll be iffy - better to have some memories of living life than none, go to library, go sit on the nearest grass also u can’t expect good arts and culture if u don’t support the bad/amateur stuff as well 🦀

Eg in shower, on walks, during commute, making dinner, to go to sleep, getting dressed. be able to do all these comfortably in silence. then u can try phase them back in in a way where they actually contribute something and ur not just listening for the sake of it
